More behind the scenes moments from the Unsustainable shoot, including dumpster diving and awkward dancing.
Production Diary 50 features the initial cast read-through of Unsustainable as well as the first day of shooting. The actors of the film share insights on their characters, discuss the constraints that shaped the film, and learn new things. Like how to ride a bike.
Summer is here, and so is Finite Film’s latest production, Unsustainable! This lively, quirky eco-comedy was inspired by some pretty off-beat constraints, which made for a challenging (and fun) screenwriting process:
• One character loves knock knock jokes. – Deborah
• One character has an ambiguous sexual orientation, and no one can figure out if they are gay or straight. – Eric Y.
• Someone is about to set fire to lots and lots of money. – Conner Q.
• Someone has just forgotten the name of the person they’re in the car with. – Daniel C.
• A character must wake up naked in their car parked in a busy parking lot without the key. – Rye B.
• Every character must hold the same particular item at some point in the film. – Philip
• One character must be eating every time he/she is on screen. – Emma
Somehow all these things came together into a comedy that is, in many ways, about my generation (often referred to as “Millennials”) and what we’re going to do with our lives as we begrudgingly become “adults.” It’s also about a mysterious foreign spy with an ambiguous sexual orientation who loves knock-knock jokes. It’s about a lot of things.
Thanks, always, to the entire Finite cast and crew for pouring their all into yet another ambitious film, especially our three fabulous leads Alan Kaiser, Olivia Schlueter-Corey, and Mary O’Malley for bringing these characters to life!
Alright – sit back, relax, make yourself a mojito, and enjoy Finite’s summer comedy, Unsustainable!
