Hi Everyone!
It’s been quiet on our site for the past few weeks, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been crazy busy here at Finite Films. Since we surpassed our Kickstarter goal on New Year’s Eve, we’ve been scrambling to finish up pre-production by the end of January in time to launch into our ambitious 30-day shoot (we’re shooting the first four episodes of Anamnesis back-to-back). Get a peek at what we’ve been up to in our latest Production Diary!
Last night, we officially kicked off the Anamnesis shoot. It was exciting getting the “Finite Family” back together on set for the first time in half a year! Stay tuned for many more updates from the set of Anamnesis during the month of February.
For now, I’ll leave you with some nifty iPhone panoramas from our most recent location scouting trip. Hope your 2013 is off to a great start!

Pre-production continues on Anamnesis as we rehearse, scout locations, and attempt some tricky VFX tests.
Last night we blew past our stretch goal of $13,000 on Kickstarter, ending our fundraiser at midnight with $15,122.03! This means that we’ll be able to produce an Anamnesis Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack as a free bonus for those who pledged $100 or more!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Your generosity has made Anamnesis: The Series possible. Stay tuned for updates as we move into production!
Happy New Year from Finite Films!
We’ve had an incredible week on Kickstarter, blowing past our original goal of $10,000! With less than three days left (our fundraiser ends on New Year’s Eve), we’re announcing a new stretch goal: $13K by 2013!
Reaching our stretch goal of $13,000 will allow us to produce an Anamnesis Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack featuring the first 4 episodes of the series! It will be included as a free bonus for those pledging $100 or more.
Yesterday you all gave Finite Films an incredible Christmas present by helping us reach our Kickstarter goal of $10,000! Thank you so, so much for making Anamnesis: The Series possible!
But it’s not over yet. We still have a week left on our Kickstarter campaign, and while reaching our goal will make this series possible, every dollar we raise from here on out will make our production that much better. If you’ve been waiting to donate, you can still pitch in! You can also help us out by continuing to share our Kickstarter page with friends and family via Facebook, Twitter, etc.
For the next day only, we’re also offering the chance to win a special Christmas Bonus Perk! If you donate $50 or more by 11:59pm (PST) on December 25th you’ll be entered to win a signed copy of Are You Dreaming?—a comprehensive guide to exploring lucid dreams!
Thanks so much for your support! We hope you have a relaxing and wonderful holiday!
P.S. For a little holiday cheer, check out our short film, Mistletoe!
Hi Everyone!
Wow, it’s been over 3 months since we last posted on the site. A lot has changed since August 17, when we posted our last Production Diary of “Year One” and said goodbye for a little while. This is an extra-long blog post, but it’s only because we have A LOT to catch up on…
Since then, we’ve been working to create some really great DVD and Blu-Ray packages for those of you who donated to us way back in 2011 during our first IndieGoGo fundraiser. We’re just putting the finishing touches on the discs now, and will be sending them off shortly! So if you were one of our initial supporters and are still waiting for your “Perk,” never fear–we haven’t forgotten about you!
But that’s not all we’ve been working on.
Today, we’d like to officially announce Finite Films’s next big project: a web series based on our short film Anamnesis.
We’ve been quietly in pre-production on this project for a while now and are so excited to begin sharing it with you. It all started back in August, when we were approached by Jeremy Norris, co-founder of www.filmskillet.com, about producing a web series with him. He loved Anamnesis, and challenged us to think of a way to make a series based on the film. In some ways, it was our most challenging “constraint” yet–come up with a concept for a web series where Anamnesis (which has a rather definitive ending) is actually just the beginning of the story.
After a lot of brainstorming, writing, rewriting… and then rewriting some more, we’re moving forward on pre-production for the first four episodes of the series and are incredibly excited to bring them to life. But, before we begin production on this ambitious project, we need your help.
Finite Films has always operated on an ultra-ultra-low budget, but strives to create high quality, ambitious, entertaining movies–the kind we’d want to watch. We want to do the same for this web series, which is our most massive project yet, but we’re in danger of going completely broke if we don’t raise some additional funds to get us through production and post-production.
If you’d like to see this exciting web series get off the ground, please visit our Kickstarter page and donate whatever you can to help us make it reality!
Here’s the good news: if every one of our YouTube subscribers pitched in just $10 right now, we’d surpass our fundraising goal today, and could start moving forward on production immediately. If you’ve enjoyed any of our films in the past, please consider helping us bring the first four episodes of the Anamnesis web series to life by contributing to our Kickstarter campaign.
To get a glimpse at what we’ve been up to lately, check out our brand new Anamnesis Production Diary, the first of a new set of behind-the-scenes videos following the making of the web series.
Throughout the rest of December, we’ll be posting more pictures and videos every week, revealing more about the series. For now, check out our Kickstarter page and watch the video to find out more.
If you have any questions about Finite’s new project, please feel free to post them in the comments section below. Here’s a brief Q & A about some of the new developments at Finite Films:
What happened to submitting and voting on constraints? Will the Anamnesis web series be based on user-submitted constraints?
During the first year of Finite Films, we challenged ourselves to create a short film every month based on constraints submitted by our viewers. The web series, which is a joint project between Finite Films and FilmSkillet.com, will not be based off constraints. It was, however, inspired by perhaps our most challenging constraint yet: “Create a web series in which the short film Anamnesis can act as a prologue to a much larger story.” It was not an easy task, but we’re really excited about the story we’ve come up with.
So wait, is Anamnesis referring to the short film, or the new web series?
Both. Our short film, Anamnesis, which was released in early 2012, is essentially a prologue to the web series, which has the same name. Think of the short film as Episode 0, and what we’re working on now are Episodes 1 through 4.
Can I still watch all the movies that Finite Films made based on constraints?
Yes, all 12 of our short films from Year One will remain free to watch on our website and YouTube.
How do I get one of those fancy Finite Films: Year One DVD or Blu-Ray combo packs if I didn’t donate to your IndieGoGo campaign way back in 2011?
As of now, we’re just focusing on getting Year One DVDs and Blu-Rays to our original IndieGoGo contributors who were promised them as “Perks.” However, we’d like to offer them for sale on our site in the near future if there is enough interest. The DVDs and Blu-Rays contain special features you won’t find online, including cast & crew audio commentaries for all 12 films.
What happens if Finite Films isn’t able to reach their goal on Kickstarter?
This is very important–if we don’t reach our goal of $10,000 by the end of the month (the campaign ends at exactly 11:59pm on New Year’s Eve PST), we won’t get anything. On Kickstarter, once our goal is reached, everyone’s contributions go through and we receive funding… if we don’t reach our goal, we get nothing. In that case, we’d have to put the Anamnesis web series on hold while we figure out a Plan B… or worse case scenario, it just simply wouldn’t happen. If you’d like to see more from Finite Films in 2013, please share our Kickstarter campaign and pitch in whatever you can to help us get this show off the ground!
