Imperfect

This production diary is an in-depth look at the last day of filming for Imperfect, one of the longest days of continuous filming we’ve ever done.

The next production diary will cover the beginning of Unsustainable, as well as the crazy post-production race against time that was finishing Imperfect.

“Unsustainable” is Picture Locked!

Unsustainable
Another edit session is complete! Our next film, Unsustainable, is now picture-locked. Now we are moving on to the next stages of post-production!

Last night Alex delivered the picture-locked film to David Sims for color correction, as well as handing it off to our trusty “sound guy” Daniel Clark. They’ll both have some unique challenges with this one since so much of it takes place outdoors during the day time. That means making the ever-moving sun feel consistent and making noisy locations sound even and smooth. And finally, composer Bryan Ricker will once again have a very short amount of time to create a quirky, original score.

This film is a fun, goofy one; striking a very different tone than our last film, Imperfect. Below are a few stills to give you a little preview of Unsustainable.

Premiere of “Imperfect”!

Imperfect

I am pleased to announced that after a long production process and a successful premiere at the United Film Festival – Los Angeles, Imperfect has now premiered online! We’re excited about this one because it’s very different than our previous films–strongly influenced by the constraint “Must be in the style of a 40′s noir.” We think it lives up to that constraint. Watch the film here.

I cannot express how proud I am of everyone involved. This was, in many ways, our biggest film yet. The crew was huge, as was the cast for a film made on effectively no budget. On several occasions there were over twenty-five people on set for some of the longest days we’ve ever done, which is quite an undertaking for our small band of filmmakers.

For me personally, this was perhaps the most rewarding filmmaking process I’ve been lucky enough to experience. I want to thank all the amazingly talented people involved, as well as all of you for voting for these crazy constraints that challenged me and inspired this film.

Without further ado, we present Imperfect. Enjoy.

Imperfect

Last night Imperfect had its big screen premiere at the United Film Festival – Los Angeles! It was a wonderful night, we had a great turnout and so much incredible support from our friends and family here in LA. Thanks to everyone who came out and made our night so special!

For everyone who couldn’t make it, stay tuned–Imperfect will be making its internet premiere next week. For now, have a great weekend, and perhaps revisit You Are Here and Occupational Hazards, which also made their silver screen debut last night but are now back online!
