After a very, very long day…and night…and another day of editing, our upcoming film Imperfect is now picture-locked. This means, whatever happens from this point forward in post-production, the visual edit of the film is finalized. This is by NO means the end of the post-production process, however. In fact, picture-locking is just the beginning.
Over the next few days, the picture-locked film will be delivered to David Sims, who will be color-correcting every frame (in this case, making everything gorgeous black & white). It will also be passed on to Daniel Clark, our trusty “sound guy” who will spend the next several days filling in the film’s soundscape with sound effects, foley, ambient textures, etc. Finally, the incredibly talented composer Bryan Ricker will have only a few days to work his magic and put together an ambitious neo-noir score.
All this needs to happen in less than a week, because in exactly 6 days, Imperfect will be making its debut on the big screen at the United Film Festival – Los Angeles, following screenings of You Are Here and Occupational Hazards. If you’re in Los Angeles, we hope you can join us at the Los Feliz 3 Theater on May 3 at 5:15pm. Buy your tickets (only $5.75!) here.
Here are some stills from the locked cut of Imperfect for your viewing pleasure. We’re VERY excited about this one:
Alright, now to finish an ambitious film noir in less than a week…let’s just say we won’t be getting a lot of sleep here at Finite…
